UV Lights & Ventilation

We install and service UV lights and mechanical ventilation for homes across Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana, usually inside the air handler or ductwork where humidity and biological growth cause problems. Homeowners call us when the vents smell musty, the coil keeps growing a film, or the house feels stuffy and stale with the windows shut all summer. Call us and describe the smell and where it is strongest. We will look at the system, the ducts and the return air before we recommend anything.

What the job involves

A UV light installation means mounting a lamp so it shines on the evaporator coil or into the moving air stream, then running a low-voltage power supply and tying it to the blower so it runs when the air runs. Ventilation work is different. That is adding fresh air intake or exhaust so the house exchanges air on purpose instead of through gaps in the attic floor. Both jobs start with sheet metal access and end with us testing airflow and confirming nothing rattles or leaks.

What we check and install

We open the air handler and look at the coil, the drain pan and the blower wheel, because that is where the growth usually lives. We measure return air, since an undersized return pulls dusty attic air and no lamp fixes that. We check duct sealing, the filter size and the humidity in the house. Then we size the lamp to the cabinet, position it where it actually hits the coil, and set the ventilation rate to the size of the home.

How we decide it is the right call

UV lights help with biological growth on a wet coil and odors coming off it. They do not remove dust, they do not fix a dirty duct, and they will not cure a house that is humid because the AC is oversized and short cycling. If the real issue is airflow, drainage or a cracked drain pan, we say so and fix that first. When the coil is clean and the smell is still there, ventilation and a lamp together usually settle it.

UV Lights & Ventilation — quick answers

Will a UV light get rid of dust and pollen?

No. UV works on biological growth in the air stream and on the coil. Dust and pollen are a filtration and duct sealing question, so we look at filter size, return air and leaks in the duct runs instead.

How often do UV bulbs need replacing?

Most bulbs lose output after roughly a year or two even though they still glow. We check them during regular service and swap them on a schedule so the lamp is actually doing work, not just lighting up the cabinet.

Do I need ventilation if my house feels stuffy?

Possibly. Newer tight homes often have no planned fresh air at all. We measure the home, check existing airflow and humidity, then size an intake or exhaust so you get exchange without dumping hot outdoor air inside.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill in the quote form with what you hear, smell or feel. Warm air, short cycling, a breaker that keeps tripping. Details on your porch help us arrive with the right parts.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose on site

A technician checks the thermostat, airflow, the indoor coil and blower, then the outdoor unit and electrical side. You get a plain explanation of what failed and why it failed.

  3. Step 3

    You approve the repair

We walk you through the fix and any parts involved before we start. Once you say go, we make the repair and confirm the system is holding temperature before we leave your driveway.

Why homeowners call us

  • Built for hard summersWe work on attic air handlers in July heat, undersized returns in older subdivisions, and condensers with hail-flattened fins. Those are everyday jobs across the region, so we know where these systems tend to give out first.
  • Air conditioner repair and heating repairOne crew for both seasons. Air conditioning repair when the house won't cool, heater repair and furnace repair when the burners won't stay lit. Same technicians, same records, so nobody starts from scratch in November.
  • We explain the failureYou hear which component failed and what it was doing to the rest of the system. If a repair is a short-term patch on an aging unit, we say so and let you decide the timing.
  • Respect for the houseDrop cloths, shoe covers, and the attic hatch closed the way we found it. We keep the work area clean and we tell you honestly when a problem is airflow or ductwork rather than the equipment itself.
  • All major brands, gas & electricOne independent crew for Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, Rheem and more.
  • Straight answersIf a system is not worth repairing, we say so, often right on the phone.
