What an AC not cooling call involves
We start at the thermostat and work outward, because a system that blows warm air can fail in several places. We confirm the indoor blower is moving air, measure the temperature drop across the coil, check the outdoor unit for a running compressor and fan, and inspect refrigerant pressures and electrical controls. Why is my AC running constantly but never cooling the house?
Usually airflow or refrigerant. A clogged filter, dirty coil or blocked return can stop heat transfer, and a refrigerant leak does the same. A quick air conditioner repair visit tells us which one it is.
There is ice on my indoor unit. Should I turn the AC off?
Yes. Switch the system to off and leave the fan on so the coil can thaw, then call us. Running an iced coil can damage the compressor, and ice almost always signals airflow or refrigerant trouble.
Can hail damage keep my AC from cooling?
