What a refrigerant leak repair involves
We start by confirming the system is actually low on charge instead of starving for airflow, because a clogged filter or a crushed return can look identical from the thermostat. Then we search the circuit with electronic detection, bubble solution and sometimes fluorescent dye, working the evaporator coil, the lineset joints, the service valves and the condenser. Once we locate it, we repair or replace the failed section, pull a vacuum to clear moisture, and weigh in the correct charge for that equipment.
What we check and what we replace
Common failure points in this region are evaporator coils with formicary corrosion, brazed joints that fatigued from vibration, Schrader valve cores that seep, and outdoor coils with fins beaten open by hail. We inspect the attic air handler and its drain pan, the suction line insulation, the filter drier and the service ports. Depending on what we find, we replace the core, the drier, a section of line, or the coil itself. Then we run the system and verify superheat and subcooling before we leave.
How we decide repair is the right call
We look at where the leak is, how old the equipment is, and what refrigerant it uses. A leaking valve core or an accessible joint is a straightforward fix worth doing. A pinholed evaporator coil on aging equipment with a dying compressor is a different conversation, and we will lay out both paths honestly. Repeated top-offs without a repair are not a plan. We tell you what we found, what it takes to fix it, and let you decide.

Can you just add refrigerant and skip the repair?
We can add charge to get you through a hot stretch, but it will leak back out. Refrigerant sits in a sealed circuit, so a low system always means a leak. We would rather find it.
Why is my indoor coil covered in ice?
Low refrigerant or restricted airflow drops coil temperature below freezing. Shut the cooling off, leave the fan running to thaw it, and change the filter. If it ices again, call us for AC repair.
How long does leak detection take?
Most leaks are located in one visit, though an intermittent seep in an attic coil can take longer. If we need dye, we may charge the system, let it run, and return to trace it.
How it works
- Step 1
Tell us the symptom
Call or fill in the quote form with what you hear, smell or feel. Warm air, short cycling, a breaker that keeps tripping. Details on your porch help us arrive with the right parts.
- Step 2
We diagnose on site
A technician checks the thermostat, airflow, the indoor coil and blower, then the outdoor unit and electrical side. You get a plain explanation of what failed and why it failed.
- Step 3
You approve the repair
We walk you through the fix and any parts involved before we start. Once you say go, we make the repair and confirm the system is holding temperature before we leave your driveway.

Why homeowners call us
- Built for hard summersWe work on attic air handlers in July heat, undersized returns in older subdivisions, and condensers with hail-flattened fins. Those are everyday jobs across the region, so we know where these systems tend to give out first.
- Air conditioner repair and heating repairOne crew for both seasons. Air conditioning repair when the house won't cool, heater repair and furnace repair when the burners won't stay lit. Same technicians, same records, so nobody starts from scratch in November.
- We explain the failureYou hear which component failed and what it was doing to the rest of the system. If a repair is a short-term patch on an aging unit, we say so and let you decide the timing.
- Respect for the houseDrop cloths, shoe covers, and the attic hatch closed the way we found it. We keep the work area clean and we tell you honestly when a problem is airflow or ductwork rather than the equipment itself.
- All major brands, gas & electricOne independent crew for Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, Rheem and more.
- Straight answersIf a system is not worth repairing, we say so, often right on the phone.
